Welcome to JAM online

Skills, recruitment and retention

Editorial

Welcome to the third online JAM, which focuses on skills, recruitment and retention.

In Is our sector struggling with a marketing skills gap and recruiting marketers? Amy Firth, AMA’s Head of Marketing, considers the two-fold problem of whether the ‘ask’ of roles is reasonable, and whether training and skills are being valued and invested in by organisations. Both of these issues also contribute to the challenge of recruiting and retaining skilled staff within roles – and within the sector.

Anne Torreggiani and The Audience Agency argue in Digital by Design that we need design skills – over tech or even data skills – to seize the post-pandemic digital opportunity.

We announce the launch of the Digital Heritage Hub and we share 12 resources from AMAculturehive that focus on different aspects on skills development, recruitment and staff retention. The spotlight falls on Lewis Roden, the AMA’s Senior Member Engagement Officer.
