Hanna Sorrell is a digital strategist and designer specialising in the arts, working with artists, galleries, estates and cultural organisations on websites, identities and digital communications. Her practice draws on two decades in the art world and work with leading artists and institutions including Edmund de Waal, Yinka Shonibare, Antony Gormley, Michael Craig-Martin and Tate.
Hanna spent the first decade of her career working with artists in commercial galleries, across museum exhibitions and through an independent gallery programme of her own. Over the past decade, she has brought that experience into digital practice. Understanding the work, its context and its audiences is central to her approach, allowing digital strategy and design to grow from the particular needs of an artist or organisation rather than being imposed upon them.
Through seachange studio, Hanna leads projects from early strategy and creative direction through to design, copy and delivery. Her work spans website design and development, branding and visual identity, digital strategy, content and audience development, with particular experience of complex creative practices, archives and substantial bodies of work. Bringing these disciplines together allows strategy, content and design to develop as a coherent whole.
Recent projects include a new website for artist Sonia Boué, bringing a complex interdisciplinary practice together within a clear and accessible digital structure; digital experiences forming part of Yinka Shonibare’s Library works; and strategy, content and international audience development for the archive of Swiss artist moholinushk. Hanna has also worked with Edmund de Waal and his studio for more than eleven years, developing his digital presence alongside an evolving international practice.
Accessibility is integral to Hanna’s work, informed by sustained experience with disabled and neurodivergent artists and arts organisations. She works with clients across the UK and internationally.
