Small is beautiful. Small is mighty.
Small organisations make up a large chunk of the arts, cultural and heritage sector. They make an important contribution to our society and communities.
Small can be nimble, resourceful and passionate. Small can also be lonely, frustrating, and precarious. AMA is here to help you, whatever comes your way. We provide support, develop skills, share success and help you navigate a path towards a sustainable future for your small organisation.
AMA began 25 years ago as the Arts Marketing Association, to help professionalise arts marketing. Today, our 2000 members span marketing and communication roles as well as fundraising and leadership, and our focus is on connecting our community with events, training and resources that help individuals and organisations make more and better connections with their target audiences.
As an Arts Council England (ACE) Sector Support Organisation, we’ve been delivering ACE funded Small-Scale Development Programmes for a number of years, to help ensure the future resilience of small organisations that might otherwise be unable to access such expertise due to time or cost constraints. We’ve offered discounts and bursaries for small organisations to attend our annual conference, recently described as “excellent neural nourishment”.
We have expanded our offer for small organisations. We still offer individual memberships starting from £75 for an early career stage professional, but we are now offering a small organisation membership which allows more than one individual to access event discounts.
Small Organisation Membership
The AMA Small Organisation membership is for organisations which meet both of the following criteria: fewer than 10 individuals, and a turnover of less than £632,000 OR £316,000 or less on its balance sheet (a.k.a. what HMRC calls a ‘micro-entity’). If you don’t meet this criteria, find the right package for you here.
Membership gives you access to exclusive programmes, discounts and member-only resources. Plus free regional networking meetings, and your own regional member representative.
Small Organisation Membership means:
- One named individual getting all the usual benefits of AMA membership PLUS member-only discounts for up to 2 other named colleagues
- Access to the Small Organisation email discussion group – chat with other organisations in a similar position and get regular updates from the AMA team
- Free ‘Small Org Surgeries’ – online networking for small organisations to get support and problem-solve
