For the past 25 years I have been working in a fundraising environment specialising in major giving. I have held the position of Director of Development at Shakespeare’s Globe since January 2010. Prior to my time at the Globe I worked at the fundraising consultancy Compton for over 9 years. My experience in the consultancy environment provided me with the exposure to an array of organisations. In the main I have worked at a trustee and executive director level in developing fundraising strategy and practice. In addition to this strategic advice, I led multi-million pound fundraising campaigns for Royal College of Surgeons, Oxford Children’s Hospital, St Christopher’s Hospice, Royal Society of Arts, Institute of Chartered Accountants, Worcester Cathedral and Leicester Performing Arts Centre. Prior to Compton, I worked as a fundraiser at the Imperial War Museum and the Royal Artillery Museum, in raising funds for new capital developments.
What seems a lifetime ago, I studied at the University of Aberystwyth (Politics and International Relations). From a professional perspective, I have been Treasurer of the Association of Fundraising Consultants (AFC) sat on the examination board for the Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and a school governor.
