Communications Manager — GEM
Salary: £28,500 FTE (pro rata salary of £17,100)
Part-time 9 month contract, parental leave cover
GEM champions excellence in learning within museums, heritage and cultural settings. GEM is a membership organisation with members, publishing two Case Studies, one Journal of Education in Museums and twelve eNews every year, and providing nationwide training, networking, advocacy and support to those involved with managing and delivering heritage learning. In the Now and the Future: Review of Formal Learning in Museums report published by ACE in 2016, GEM was named as the top provider of CPD for museum learning and GEM has expanded its CPD programme to include online learning and webinar workshops, supported by the Communication Manager.
The GEM Communications Manager is responsible for leading on communications, digital developments, website, publications, conference / events (online and in person). This role helps to deliver the membership strategy, ensuring and communicating member benefits and supporting the GEM network of area representatives. The role also contributes to advocacy for GEM working with a range of partners and supports GEM’s professional development programme including training and resources across all four nations of the UK.
The Communications Manager will report to the Director, working closely with GEM’s Office Manager and Finance and Operations Manager, contributing to the work of the GEM Board Task and Finish Groups.
