Suzanne Wynne | Freelance Arts Marketing

Hello, I’m Suzanne and I’ve worked in the arts sector for over 25 years. Since 2018 I have been a freelancer supporting theatre companies, festivals, venues and arts organisations with their marketing.

Skilled at understanding the culture and audiences of organisations, I translate that knowledge into building and executing effective, realistic, audience-focused marketing campaigns and strategies. I have a track record of working at various scales from large theatre productions and multi-venue national tours to local grassroots arts events and everything in-between.

I specialise in marketing events through clear copywriting; social media management and content creation; creating and pulling together marketing assets including print development, and liaising with designers, filmmakers and photographers; website development and maintenance; newsletter creation using e-newsletter software; media coverage and building relationships; online and print advertising; and writing audience development plans for funding bids. My campaigns work within budget and sometimes with no budget at all! I also write marketing strategies, lead on branding projects and act as interim marketing manager if required.

I’m hands-on when needed, working on-site and as part of a team, as well as happy working remotely with regular contact and updates. I am based in Leeds and work with local as well as national organisations.

Clients have included Arts Council England, Theatre Company Blah Blah Blah, Jazz North, TBC Productions, Utopia Theatre, Transform Festival, Circus Leeds, Old Bird Theatre, Libellule Theatre, Speedwell Dance, Fidget Theatre, Wrongsemble with Creative Scene and Dark Horse Theatre.

Past employment experience and great training grounds for eventually going it alone include Marketing Manager of Halifax’s Square Chapel Arts Centre and Orange Box young people’s centre, and Marketing and Press roles at Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield and Wycombe Swan in High Wycombe.
