Hi, I’m Kate Fitzgerald – a data protection specialist helping cultural organisations confidently meet their obligations under UK GDPR.

I support arts, heritage, and cultural organisations to manage risk, protect personal data, and embed practical, proportionate data protection practices across their work. My focus is on making compliance clear and achievable, using plain English rather than legal jargon, so teams feel confident in what they’re doing and why it matters.

With over 25 years’ experience in the sector, I don’t just provide policies or frameworks. I work alongside teams to identify risks early, resolve issues quickly, and implement solutions that are realistic, effective, and sustainable.

I’m currently on retainer with the Royal Shakespeare Company, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), and Birmingham Hippodrome, supporting organisation-wide approaches to UK GDPR compliance and data governance.
