Historical Context of Carnival Arts for Marketers

Carnival Arts has a powerful history rooted in identity, resistance, celebration and social change, but it is often misunderstood, simplified or marketed without the cultural context it deserves.

In this practical webinar, you’ll explore what marketers need to know to approach Carnival Arts with greater confidence, care and cultural awareness. You’ll consider how to build authentic relationships with artists and communities, avoid common pitfalls around representation and cultural appropriation, and apply inclusive marketing principles across your own organisation.

By the end of this webinar, you’ll have a clearer understanding of how Carnival Arts’ historical and cultural context can inform stronger, more respectful marketing decisions. You’ll also gain practical insights into working collaboratively with communities and practitioners, while strengthening your confidence to lead inclusive approaches in your own context.

You will take away practical ideas for creating culturally informed, inclusive campaigns across arts, culture and heritage organisations.

You will leave with an understanding of:

  • The historical and cultural significance of Carnival Arts and why context matters in marketing.
  • Explore how power sharing and EDI can shape more inclusive marketing practice.
  • Greater confidence in applying your own leadership experience when working with culturally specific organisations and communities.
  • Practical insights into building collaborative, relationship-based approaches between marketers and Carnival Arts practitioners.

Who it’s for:

This webinar is suitable for marketers at all career stages who have an interest in audience development, cultural engagement, inclusive marketing, or working with diverse communities. No prior knowledge of Carnival Arts is required
