Copy That — words that work

14 September @ 10:00 am 1:00 pm

This workshop is limited to 25 people

This workshop will help you craft benefit-driven copy that engages your audiences.

Ever wondered why many brilliant arts and cultural activities don’t enjoy bigger audiences (other than social distancing)? We won’t solve the entire question in one session, but we will interrogate how our copy could play a role in better communicating the benefits of attending. Which is a good start.

This session will:

  • Help you understand what works, what doesn’t, and why in terms of copy
  • Bring you an awareness of common practices that may not be doing you any favours
  • Offer techniques to help you avoid repeating the same old words and phrases
  • Provide a template to help you focus on your key message

This is a practical workshop that offers you the chance to take risks and try things out in a safe environment.

Any prior knowledge/experience needed to benefit from this session?

No prior knowledge needed. This session offers something for absolute beginners and those who have been writing copy for years but may be stuck in a rut.

Jo Taylor | Director of Audiences | Rambert

As Director of Audiences Jo works closely with the artistic team and is responsible for building and connecting with Rambert’s fanbase.  She believes we need to seize the opportunity of every encounter — whether real or virtual — to make a powerful connection with people, and that the right words and messaging approaches can help achieve this. Jo balances clear strategic thinking with first hand practical experience of the issues facing arts managers in daily life.

Jo brings 30 years’ applied experience across a range of previous roles — including Director and Senior Consultant at Morris Hargreaves McIntyre and a number of venues, producing, touring companies and festivals, including Welsh National Opera and Wales Millennium Centre.
