Bursaries help make our events more affordable for individuals and organisations who might not otherwise be able to get involved. 

Thanks to support from organisations across the arts, heritage and cultural sector there were 33 bursaries available that cover the full cost of an in-person AMA Conference 2023 delegate place.

There were also 23 Digital Ticket bursaries available.

Thanks to everyone who applied this year, and we’re looking forward to seeing our lucky recipients in Leeds.

Digital Ticket Bursaries

Museums Galleries Scotland logo

Museums Galleries Scotland Bursaries

Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) will provide up to 14 bursaries to cover the full cost of an AMA Conference 2023 Digital Ticket.

Applications are open to both  AMA members and non-members, working or volunteering for museums or galleries in Scotland.

MGS will prioritise applications based on the following:  

  • You work or volunteer for an independent or local authority / ALEO run museum or gallery
  • You work or volunteer in a role that helps contribute towards the marketing of your museum or gallery
  • You are from a culturally and/or ethnically diverse background (including, but not limited to, the 9 protected characteristics identified by the Equality Act 2010: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation)

West Midlands Museum Development logo

West Midlands Museum Development Bursaries

West Midlands Museum Development (WMMD) will provide 9 bursaries that cover the full cost of an AMA Conference 2023 Digital Ticket. 

Applications are open to both AMA members and non-members who meet the following criteria: 

  • Staff, volunteers, Trustees or freelancers representing Accredited or Working Towards Accreditation West Midlands museums. National and NPO organisations are not eligible.

Accessible by Desgin logo

Accessible by Design Bursaries

Accessible by Design will provide 2 bursaries that cover the full cost of an AMA Conference delegate place.

Accessible by Design bursaries are open to anyone working in the arts, culture and heritage sector who needs financial support to attend the AMA Conference. This includes both AMA members and non-members.

To apply for an Accessible by Design bursary, you must meet at least one of the following criteria:   

  • You identify as blind, visually impaired, D/deaf, disabled or neurodivergent 
  • You are an individual or member of an organisation working within disability arts  
  • You work in a diversity-focused role and/or for a diverse-led organisation 
  • You are an individual from a culturally and/or ethnically diverse background (including, but not limited to, the 9 protected characteristics identified by the Equality Act 2010: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation)

Arts Council of Wales Bursaries

Arts Council of Wales will provide 8 bursaries that cover the full cost of AMA Conference 2023 — 4 of which are exclusively for small organisations/freelancers. 

Applications are open to both AMA members and non-members, working for organisations across the cultural sector. 

All applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Individual applicants must be working as an arts freelancer based in Wales or in an arts organisation based in Wales

In all cases, Arts Council of Wales strongly encourages applications from the following: 

  • An individual or organisation working primarily in the Welsh language   
  • A Deaf, disabled or neurodivergent individual
  • An individual from an ethnically or culturally diverse background
  • Organisations which are led by — and focus on supporting — protected characteristic groups. Of these, a particular priority are those which are ethnically and culturally diverse-led, or disabled-led arts organisations
  • An individual working freelance in the cultural sector with this as your main source of income

house southeast theatre network Bursaries

house southeast theatre network will provide 4 bursaries that cover the full cost of AMA Conference 2023 for small organisations. 

These bursaries are available to freelancers, individual marketers, and people working for small organisations across the cultural sector, who are part of the house network.

Indigo Share logo

Indigo Share Bursaries

Indigo Share will provide a bursary that covers the full cost of AMA Conference 2023.

The Indigo Share bursary is open to anyone working in an Audience/Visitor Insights, Research or Data role, and who hasn’t attended the AMA Conference before. This includes both AMA members and non-members.

Museum Development East Midlands Logo

Museum Development East Midlands Bursaries

Museum Development East Midlands (MDEM) will provide 3 bursaries to individuals who work or volunteer at an accredited / WTA museums in the East Midlands.

Applications are open to both AMA members and non-members who meet the following criteria:

  • You are an individual from a museum or heritage organisation that is accredited or currently working towards accreditation within the Arts Council Accreditation Scheme
  • You must not have already received a bursary from MDEM in the current financial year

Museum Development North West will provide 1 bursary that covers the full cost of AMA Conference 2023.

All applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • You work in a museum in the North West

Museum Development Yorkshire Bursaries

Museum Development Yorkshire (MDY) will provide a bursary that covers the full cost of AMA Conference 2023.    

MDY bursaries are open to both AMA members and non-members who meet the following criteria:

  • You are an individual, freelancer or person working for a small museum that is Accredited or working towards Accreditation, located within the Museum Development Yorkshire region

Spektrix Logo

Spektrix Bursaries

Spektrix will provide 3 bursaries that cover the full cost of AMA Conference 2023.   

Spektrix bursaries are open to anyone working in the arts, culture and heritage sector who needs financial support to attend the AMA Conference. This includes both AMA members and non-members.  

Spektrix particularly encourage applications from people belonging to groups historically underrepresented in arts marketing including but not limited to disabled and/or neurodivergent individuals and members of underrepresented racial and ethnic groups.
