CultureHive Small Scale Development Programme Case Study
Julie Gaskell-Johnson, Chief Executive, West Yorkshire Print Workshop
As West Yorkshire Print Workshop’s CEO, I oversee all aspects of our work: planning, funding and finance, maintenance, communication, staff and volunteers. The Small Scale Development Programme gave us the opportunity to think more about the bigger-picture for our organisation’s future, and to find a new sense of purpose while not getting so bogged-down with daily grind.
SSDP was recommended to me by our ACE Relationship Manager. It coincided with preparing our ACE NPO submission, so it was especially useful to talk with peers at the residential, and to discover how we compared to other NPOs to ensure that we were on the right track.
Following the programme we had a board away-day where I briefed our Chair on the SWOT and TOWS analyses I produced as part of the SSDP. My intention now is to use these tools to test ideas and create a shared sense of direction through a focused agenda. Our main aim is to increase the volume of graduate student membership as a key part of West Yorkshire Print Workshop’s business plan, which will lead to increased financial resilience.
