What is it about?

This session explores how the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) launched its new website in 2018, building on months of development and live testing. Discover how the website was built alongside the Institute’s existing website. Seeking to apply that same contemporary ethos, ICA’s website challenges our expectations, striving for simplicity and reflecting the individuality of the ICA, its ethos and programming.

This session explores the creative process, development and reception of ICA’s bold online statement.

What will I gain?

1) Knowledge of the creative process and development behind the creation of a new website
2) Insight in to how a bold website may be received
3) An understanding of how a website can reflect multiple brand and programming messages

Who is it for?

This session is for delegates looking to learn about building a new website and take inspiration from an exciting case study.

The Institute of Contemporary Arts, The Institute of Contemporary Arts was founded by a collective of artists, poets and their supporters in 1947, presenting groundbreaking and daring projects, which have continued over subsequent decades. Under the current directorship of Stefan Kalmár, the ICA is once again invested in a radically progressive vision of the ICA – an ICA in which different modes of cultural production thrive on mutual engagement with each other, and a programme that speaks to the challenges of the 21st Century.
