Working in the arts is ideal for me – it allows me to share my passion for creativity along with my marketing skills to get ‘bums on seats’. Along with this main objective, there’s also a myriad of exciting opportunities I have been able to take advantage of whilst working at Fife Cultural Trust – from dressing up as a Gingerbread Man to guiding Alexander McCall Smith round The Great Tapestry of Scotland.
My main satisfaction comes from getting people to engage with the arts – no matter who they are or whatever the art form, I relish seeking out audiences, getting them to attend and ultimately making the world a more culturally enriched place.
At my current role this covers a wide remit – theatres, libraries and museums, which I enjoy as it allows me to constantly come up with ideas and put them into practice.
The AMA has proved highly useful in allowing me to develop my skills within the arts sector and meet like-minded individuals to share experiences and ideas. On an organisational level the AMA has helped ensure we stay ahead of the crowd in terms of the latest trends and practices through the various learning strands on offer. After any AMA event I always come away enthused with ideas and would definitely recommend it to anyone working in the arts sector.
