How will I meet people?

The conference is a great way to meet others and each year we organise evening social events to help oil those networking wheels. See below for details of this year's evening entertainment. The question on everybody's lips is, will the Cheesy Disco make a return appearance?

You will also be able to network at refreshment breaks as well as getting to know people during seminars and those staying at your hotel. To keep in touch with the people you meet why not register your mobile number with the free SMS service? Also, download the delegate list below so that you can arrange to meet up with others before you even get to the conference.

Don't forget, the number one rule in networking is you've got to give to receive!

Conference social programme

Wednesday
After registering at 7pm, start your conference networking by meeting other delegates at the Wednesday evening drinks reception and buffet hosted by Tickets.com at the Wales Millennium Centre, starting at 7.30pm.

Taking place throughout the conference, lunchtimes and evenings, will be free recitals by the Barry Male Voice choir. The first of these recitals starts on Wednesday evening, at 6.15pm on the Tesco stage, in the Glanfa foyer.

Thursday
You can also enjoy the free foyer performances (ground floor foyer space) on Thursday, including classical guitarist, Jonathan Richards at 12.30pm and at 6.45pm a performance by members of the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera

Relax at the end of Thursday’s programme and enjoy a free drink and buffet meal at the Wales Millennium Centre from 6.15pm with new people you have met during the day and old friends – hand over your delegate-pack umbrella to claim your free drink.

After supper, delegates will be invited to make their way to the live music venue, The Point, just a five-minute walk from the Wales Millennium Centre. The evening’s entertainment will begin with some live music, followed by the traditional cheesy disco – brought back by popular demand – believe it or not! Please bring your button badge from your delegate pack to The Point in order to gain entry.

There are two cash bars at the venue, but if you prefer a quieter option, then consider going to the City Bar and Canteen, apparently one of the best bars in Cardiff, just around the corner from The Point.

Friday
We will close the conference with drinks and nibbles giving you the opportunity to make your final farewells and exchange numbers and e-mail addresses.

Friday’s free foyer performances will include Ros Evans (soprano) and Jeffery Howard (piano) at 1pm and the Newport Philharmonic Choir at 6.45pm.

Would like to meet (WLTM)
The ‘Would like to Meet’ board will be at the AMA registration desk. Use the board if you want to put a name to a face or need a meeting point.
