CultureHive Small Scale Development Programme Case Study
Rachael Perrin, Director, Soundcastle
As a music social enterprise, we run free projects for communities and the focus had originally been on delivery rather than development. It was time to embrace new thinking and to convince my team to work differently by looking at long-term gain over short-term funding wins.
The Small Scale Development Programme offered a wonderful opportunity for me to take time away from everyday pressures, and to review future direction and strengthen our brand with the input of strategic thinkers.
The programme helped me to proactively take control of Soundcastle’s direction. It was amazing to spend time around people in such similar positions and to share our stories. It gave me the confidence to challenge the status quo of our company and showed the incredible results you can achieve when you ask more focused questions.
I returned from the residential with a two-year action plan to share and embed with the team, one which balances artistic practice with business development. I am now introducing new impact measures, and exploring new ways of raising our profile.
