Networking opportunities and socials

AMA conference 2016 offers a wide range of evening activities and socials for you to explore the vibrant city of Edinburgh and network with like-minded attendees.

Tuesday evening

Dovecot Studios – Scottish Endarkenment exhibition curated tour
5.00 – 6.00pm

A unique opportunity to explore The Scottish Endarkenment, guided by Dovecot Gallery Exhibitions Curator Kate Grenyer. This tour provides an up-close encounter with the dark side of Scottish Art.

Mercat Tours – Three unique tours from Edinburgh’s Award-Winning Storytellers
5.00 – 6.00pm

All tours meet at the Mercat Cross, an octagonal stone monument on the Royal Mile, opposite the City Chambers, EH1 1RF.

  • Secrets of the Royal Mile:
The perfect introduction to Scotland’s capital. Your expert guide will take you to the places where history was made – the wynds, closes, courtyards and homes of Edinburgh’s Old Town. You’ll be hanging on your guide’s every word, as the true stories of the capital’s past unfold.
  • Historic Underground:
Beneath the bustle of Edinburgh’s Old Town you’ll discover a dark, damp world unchanged since the 18th century. Your expert guide will lead you deep into the Blair Street Underground Vaults, and together you’ll explore their history – including how they became home to the city’s most destitute inhabitants.
  • Gallows to Graveyard
Edinburgh is a city with a split personality, and its respectable mask conceals an intriguing, dangerous side. Traitors, thieves and murderers have come to a bloody end on the Royal Mile, and your guide will tell you stories of the dark secrets behind these tragic events.

Please note:
Places on the tours are limited, so please commit to coming along if you book a place, or let us know in advance if your plans change so that someone else can benefit from this opportunity.
